Tornado Road Trip

Tornado Road Trip will be unlike anything you have ever experienced. You will spend the night on campus with a current student and learn firsthand what happens at CTX. Whether you are coming from near or far, once you get here, you will become an honorary Tornado. What does that involve? Lots! A sampling of activities available to students who attend Road Trip include:

  • Eating in the cafeteria
  • Sleeping in the residence halls
  • Experiencing class
  • Hanging out with current students
  • Speaking with faculty
  • Having fun around Austin
  • Going on a campus tour
  • And much more!

Tornado Road Trip is only for students who have already applied to the university. If you have not yet applied, apply now and join Road Trip 2015!

You must register for the event so we are prepared for your arrival. Registration will open in the fall.

If you have any problem registering, please contact Samantha Sherman at 512-313-4605 or by email at

Tornado Road Trip Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to questions you may have about Tornado Road Trip.

Can't find your answer? Email or contact your Admissions Counselor.

What do I need to do before I can attend Road Trip?

You must apply for admission to the university for Fall 2014. Once you have applied, you can register for Tornado Road Trip.

When will I be on campus?

Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. until Friday, February 28, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.

What if I live close to campus?

Even if your "road trip" to campus takes only a few minutes in the car, you can still enjoy the visit. It will give you an idea of what living on campus is like.

What if I need to fly to Austin to get to campus?

If you fly into Austin Bergstrom Airport, you will be picked up and dropped off at the airport by a Concordia University Texas Admissions Representative. Please send your flight itinerary to as soon as you book so we can make travel arrangements.

What will I do at Road Trip?

Road trip includes several scheduled events like campus tours, mock classes, an organization/academic fair, chapel, and even a fun afternoon in downtown Austin. Plus, you are bound to participate in some unscheduled events like staying up most of the night getting to know your roommate, playing pool or ping-pong in the Student Center with fellow visit participants, or grabbing a coffee at our on-campus Starbucks.

How much money will I need?

None, unless you want to buy a CTX shirt at the bookstore,or purchase something downtown. Most students will bring a little spending money with them. All meals are provided and all Road Trip events are free of charge.

Where will I stay on campus?

You'll stay in the Residence Hall with CTX students.

What do I need to bring to campus?

Since you will be sleeping in a residence hall room, you will need a pillow and sleeping bag. Toiletries and a towel are a good idea too. Check the weather before you leave to know what clothing items you will need. If you have admission application items missing (like transcripts or test scores), bringing those will save you a stamp or another trip to campus in the future.

Are parents invited to participate?

Sorry parents, but Tornado Road Trip is for potential students only. If your parent(s) will need a place to stay while you are on campus, here is a list of hotels near the area. If your parent(s) need to speak with an admissions staff member, please make arrangements with your individual Admissions Counselor on Firday morning only. Otherwise, no parents allowed!
